If you are travelling with family and want to get a taste of the history and wildlife of the region, here are a few suggested attractions you should consider visiting while staying at one of the HuaHin hotels located in town.

There is an elephant village located on the way to Pala-U just west of Hua Hin. You can see these magnificent animals enjoying their natural habitat. You can even pay to go for a ride on one if you choose. You can also travel about 10 km to the north of the city and spend the day at the animal park located there. It's a great spot for a family picnic but you will need to bring your own supplies as there are no shops.

Although Klaigungwon (the King's Palace) in Hua Hin is only open to invitation at the present time, you can visit the Rama VI's residence to the north of the city. The key features of the structure are the many beach pagodas and some beautifully landscaped gardens. Now fully restored, the structure is the world's longest palace completely constructed from golden teakwood.

In and around the city are numerous temples all of which can easily be reached from any of the Cheap Hua Hin Resorts in the area. Wat Hua Hin, which is the main one is located in the centre of town, is a large complex that many monks call home. In the early morning hours you will see the monks that live here collecting alms.
